What is Ayurvedic Face Massage?

Stress has become an inescapable part of our everyday lives.

It is one of the leading causes of death and disease in the modern world. This stress slowly accumulates in our bodies and causes a world of trouble. You can easily identify an individual who is over stressed by looking at his or her face.

This is because stress also affects the facial muscles and causes them to contract. This results in an unnatural grimace that lends a very unattractive look to the face. When these facial muscles are continuously contracted under stress, they lose their elasticity and wrinkles are formed.

It is no wonder that people tend to look old and wrinkled at a very early age, these days. Fortunately, help is at hand in the form of Ayurvedic face massage.

Ayurvedic face massage is based on the ancient therapeutic principles of Ayurveda. This form of therapy has been widely practiced in India for thousands of years, and now its popularity is slowly spreading to the Western world. Ayurvedic face massage seeks to promote harmony and balance in the body by freeing constrictions within the facial muscles and connective tissue.

How does Ayurvedic face massage work?

Every Ayurvedic face massage is special because it is uniquely tailored for the individual. The massage therapist will first study your face and ask some questions about your health and lifestyle in order to determine the optimum massage technique and combination of herbal oils to be used for your massage.

The massage is carried out by application of massage oil and pressure along specific pressure points on the face. This helps to release all the stress-induced toxins from your face and restore it to its natural balance. The therapist uses his or her fingers to stimulate these pressure points by using special massage techniques.   A typical massage session can last from thirty minutes to an hour.

Ayurvedic face massage benefits

In addition to detoxifying your face, Ayurvedic face massage helps your facial muscles relax from their contracted state. It removes any stress induced blockages that are present in the muscles and in doing so, also ensures that you feel relaxed and rejuvenated. Regular massage can make frown lines disappear and make your skin appear healthy and toned. It also stimulates lymphatic drainage and the circulation of blood. In fact Ayurvedic face massage is the most non-invasive and natural face lift that you can get.
