More Yoga Exercises for Migraine Headaches

Yoga therapy has come up with a set of techniques to alleviate migraine headaches. These include a set of exercises, Yoga poses (asanas) breathing exercises (pranayama), Yoga cleansing kriyas and Yoga diet.

If practised regularly, they are known to help even cure the condition. However, for best results, you should be consistent and regular with your practices for a certain period of time.

Given below are some more Yoga exercises for migraine headaches that are bound to help the sufferer.

Stage I – Forward-Backward movements

  1. Exhale and slowly move your head forward. Try to touch your chin to your chest.
  2. Next inhale and bend your head as far back as you can.
  3. In the extreme position of bending, feel the stretch in the front and back muscles of your neck.
  4. Do 10 rounds of this.

Stage II – Right-Left bends

  1. Exhale and slowly bend your head to your right. Now take your ear as close as you can, to your shoulder. However, you shouldn’t turn your head or lift your shoulder.
  2. Inhale and take your head back to the center.
  3. Next, with an exhalation, bend your head to the left side in the same way as above.

  4. With an inhalation return to the center.
  5. This constitutes one round. Do 10 rounds of this.

Stage III – Right and Left turns

  1. Shut your eyes and keep closed eyes head erect.
  2. Exhale and slowly turn your head to your left. Do it in such a way that your chin is in line with your shoulder.
  3. Inhale and slowly return to the center.
  4. Exhale and slowly turn inhale head to your right, the same way as before.
  5. Return to the center with an inhalation.
  6. This constitutes one round. Do 10 rounds of this.
