Yoga Therapy for Hypertension and Heart Diseases

What are the general recommendations and rules of life style of Yoga therapy for Hypertension and Heart Diseases? That is, what does Yoga therapy recommend for a rosy heart? Here are a few ways, but the best one is to identify your risk factors and put the brakes on them.



Avoid them, on a war footing, correct them, without letting them prevail over one’s resolve. Even though we are being repetitive, it is worth considering the precautions one is expected to take.

For one thing, maintain a watch on diet.



You don’t do so just when you enter your 40s. It should be right from your school days. Also see that your body weight is such that it does not allow bulges to appear in the middle.



Avoid smoking, and if you are a smoker, give up the habit immediately. Likewise, avoid alcohol. It can trigger rise in triglycerides. Also monitor your blood pressure and, if you are hypertensive, take regular medication. Also take all necessary precautions to keep your BP under control. Avoid letting emotional stress and anxiety to get the better of you. Learn to relax and meditate. Spend a lot of time with your family, go on outings with them, and do the things that please you and rid you of negative feelings pent up inside.

Above all, get regular physical exercise. Even if you have Hypertension and heart diseases, a programmed exercise routine under the supervision of a physician will do you a world of good.

Yoga therapy for Hypertension and Heart Diseases - Padasanchalana breathing

  • Take your left leg upwards and forwards. At the same time stretch your foot forward
  • Take your leg back to center.
  • Now move your leg backwards and stretch your foot backwards. Return it back to center
  • Keep breathing deeply. Inhale and exhale to the count of 5.
  • This constitutes one round. For best results you should practice at least 10 rounds
  • Repeat the same practice with your right leg.
