Yoga for Men

As a general rule, men are supposed to be strong - physically and mentally. Besides, men are known to engage in more strenuous activities of life. They love to play sports and lift weights to keep a healthy figure. Besides, their jobs are usually more physically demanding such as carpentry and construction work. Add to that the pressure they have to undergo for being the head of the family and being a part of the so-called ‘stronger sex’ and men definitely have a strong case for practicing Yoga.

But it is important for each and every man to know that this stereotype of the ‘stronger sex’ may soon isolate them feel more from women. That is, if they continue to believe in it too much. However, through Yoga, particularly meditation, men will be able to look deeper into themselves, listen to their inner voice, and develop a more positive view on life. In this way they will also enhance their relations with other people.

As men are more into sports and other physical activities, the practice of Asanas will help offset any physical irregularities arising from such tasks. For example, in sports like golf or tennis, there is a tendency for some muscles to be used more than their respective symmetrical counterparts (i.e. right and left arms, legs, etc.) Asanas help by loosening tightness in the muscles, thereby bringing the body back into its natural alignment.
