Yoga for Constipation

Constipation may probably be the main cause of most ailments common to humans.



From the common cold, acne to even depression, if you avoid constipation it may be the first step to preventing all illness.

It must be noted that, on an average, a person carries 10-15 pounds of uneliminated feces in their bowels.



This itself has a toxic effect on your blood stream.



Causes of Constipation :

  1. Failure to heed the call of nature.
  2. Lack of adequate vegetables and fruits in food.
  3. Lack of fluids – i.e. by not drinking sufficient water. (Liquids does not mean beverages, sodas and alcohol)
  4. Poor food combinations and having mucus forming and difficult to digest foodstuffs.

Apparently, a healthier and wiser choice of dietetic habits can help combat constipation. However, even to make this attempt more successful, some physical actions may come in handy towards helping you relive your body of excess debris in the alimentary canal.

  • The Shoulder Stand - Sarvangasana
  • The Peacock Pose - Mayurasana
  • Abdominal Lifts
  • The Breathing Exercises such as Kapalabhatti, Anuloma-Viloma and Bhastrika

These asanas specially target the abdominal region of your body. In executing them you will find a natural remedy for constipation. If curing constipation is a much needed process, then you need to undertake Yoga as a choice for physical therapy, together with other methods will not hurt and could possibly help immensely.
