The inverted postures are most important yoga poses for rejuvenation. Inverted poses are especially recommended for women because of their regenerating effect on the thyroid.. Regular practice of Viparitkarani (The Inverted posture), Sarvangasana (The Shoulder-stand pose) and Halasana (The Plough Pose) normalizes menstruation. In case of displacement of uterus and fallopian tubes, all inverted postures including Sirshasana (The Head-stand pose) help the displaced organs to fall into their correct positions.

Inverted yoga poses do not prevent implantation. However it is recommended not to do inverted postures when you are menstruating. The retrograde flow or back flow may develop endometriosis, a growth of uterine tissue. It is however not a proven fact.

There are numerous therapeutic benefits from practicing these yoga poses that if you they are practiced on a regular basis barring menstrual time, the changes will feel vigorous, young and energetic.

  1. Viparitkarani (The Inverted Posture)
    In this yoga pose, there is abundant supply of blood to the neck, throat and head. The thyroid and pituitary glands plus the nervous centers of the brain get rejuvenated.The stimulation of sex glands and thyroid glands produces vigor. It is also an age defying yoga pose.
  2. Sarvangasana (The Shoulder-Stand Pose)
    The Shoulder-stand pose keeps the thyroid and parathyroid glands healthy which regulates the functioning of many vital organs. It improves blood flow to all the sense organs, head, neck and brain as well facial skin. Circulatory congestions get relieved besides free flow of hormones to the blood. The spinal nerves get toned. It prevents formation of wrinkles and premature aging. Uterine and menstrual disorders in females are cured through regular practice of this yoga pose. It is especially good for women after childbirth. It reduces mental and physical fatigue and even brings back lost vitality after long illness.The shoulder-stand pose is good substitutes for those who cannot do the head-stand pose. Even if you do head-stand pose, this pose should be practiced along with it because of its unique benefits.
  3. Halasana (The Plough Pose)
    This is again a very effective pose for disorder of the ovaries and uterus and menstrual problem. This pose also develops healthy thyroid and parathyroid and keeps sex glands healthy. This is also extremely beneficial for the spinal column and prevents formation of fat on the stomach, hips and waist.
  4. Sirshasana (The Head Stand Pose)
    The abundant supply of arterial blood to the brain regenerates the brain and complete nervous system. It is good for sensory work. Improves mental faculties like concentration and memory. This is also effective for endocrine and digestive system. Improves balance and alignment of back and spine, replaces sagging abdominal organs to their original place. This also helps in retaining youthful look and vigor. Also infuses mental peace and equilibrium.

All the vertical poses should be followed by Shavasana (The Corpse pose).
