Running For Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is one of the most common illnesses that women suffer from and this is caused by a variety of reasons. The most common cause for breast cancer, however, is an infection of the lobules or milk ducts that supply milk to children who are being nursed. Although there are numerous tests being carried out on medications that would help prevent cancer, it is still a terminal illness. A large number of cancer patients do live a long lifetime, primarily based on their attitude toward the illness and the willingness not to let it get the better of them.

There have been a variety of recommendations made on exercises that should be undertaken to help the body fight against breast cancer, and running is one of the most common of these recommendations. In the former years, running for breast cancer started off as a campaign to keep women informed of the risks of breast cancer. Through the years, people have realized that the campaign not only educates people about the illness, but is an effective method of helping the body fight against the illness itself. Giving the body the nutrition it requires, helps it to repair worn out tissue and will also regain electrolytes that have been lost through the excretions of the sweat glands.

One of the primary reasons cited for running being the cure for breast cancer is that it causes the body to get rid of toxins through sweating, while ensuring that you build up an appetite and eat healthy foods. Replenishing the body by drinking water after each run also helps to clear the body of toxins that could further complicate the situation. Besides this, a person who exercises regularly and stays fit is bound to boost her immune system thereby fighting off minor illnesses that could compound the problem. There are a number of organizations that host various marathons and runs through city areas, helping to raise funds for the cure of breast cancer while simultaneously bringing awareness to the doorsteps of people living in the city itself. Funds raised through marathon runs for breast cancer are used primarily for treatment of breast cancer patients and for expenses towards research for a cure. A number of people who participate in marathons for breast cancer are victims of the terminal illness. They undertake the activity as a testimonial for others to see and believe that cancer is an illness that can be fought.
