What Is The Best Time or Schedule For Practicing Yoga?

What Is The Best Time To Practice Yoga As I Work In Different Shifts

It depends entirely upon you. You actually have two options: you can either do your yoga early in the morning after you’re back from your shift. Or you can do it before you leave for work – so that would be sometime around 4 or 5 in the evening. As long as you do yoga regularly and make time for it in your schedule, it should be fine. Do yoga for at least 20 minutes every day to enjoy all the benefits of this form of exercise.

While deciding a schedule for yourself and for doing yoga, think about the time period when you feel fresh and actually feel like exercising. There are two sides to this coin. If you feel fresh in the evening, before going to work (considering that you might have had a good nap and are fresh), then you can slot in time for yoga. On the other hand, if you feel all rushed for work in the evening and would rather do yoga in the morning, after you return, then try an early morning session. Several people prefer early mornings when it comes to yoga, but you have to decide if this time is suitable for you or not. Do you feel sleepy and would rather snuggle into bed than pull out your yoga mat? Or, would you prefer doing yoga now and re-energize yourself? You also need to slot in your sleep time – right after you’re back or by mid-morning – because this will be a major factor in deciding when you do yoga.

You Also Need To Keep In Mind Some Basic Guidelines While Slotting In Time For Yoga:

  • Decide if you’re a morning person or evening person. Your body clock plays an important role in deciding your exercise schedule.
  • You must do yoga a few hours after you’ve eaten anything. So, let’s say, you’re planning to do yoga in the early evening. Then make sure that you’ve had your lunch way before you begin your asanas. If you’re thinking of doing yoga in the morning, make sure that you haven’t eaten a snack before doing so. Wait for at least 30 minutes after doing yoga to eat anything.
  • Also, if possible, work with a yoga teacher for sometime before practicing on your own. You need to get a sense of all the postures, so that you do not do any of them incorrectly and injure yourself.
  • And, warm up before the practice and cool down as you wind up your yoga session.
