Red eye syndrome can be caused by several things such as an allergy, pollution or even a speck of dirt in the eye. Recent research has shown that individuals who wear contact lens are more likely to suffer from irritated and inflamed eye conditions that those who do not wear them. Usually, the irritation is brought on by the drying of the eye; the action of the lens rubbing against the eye or a reaction of the lens solution can aggravate the inflammation. It is also possible that individuals who wear contact lens are more prone to inflammation of the eye conjunctiva and infections.

Blurred Vision And Cornea Contact Lenses

Corneal infection is considered to be more painful than other eye disorders and can also cause blurred vision with increased sensitivity towards light. If the eye condition is neglected, it can lead to scarring of the cornea and even loss of vision. There have been rare cases where the corneal infection has spread to the inside of the eye causing complete blindness. Therefore corneal infection must be given a great deal of importance. Immediate diagnosis followed by appropriate treatment is extremely critical.

Tips For Wearing Contact Lenses

Latest research has shown that some contact lenses are safer than others. Apparently, rigid glass permeable lenses are considered to be a safer than soft lenses, in terms of preventing eye infections, although soft lens are more comfortable to wear. However it is important to note that lens should be selected based on many factors in addition to safety. As important as safety is, it is equally critical to evaluate when and how the lenses are worn. The wearing of contact lenses while sleeping, which is known as extended or flexible wear, is connected with a greater possibility of corneal infection. Needless to say, it is preferable that the lenses are removed every night before going to bed.

Irrespective of the type of lenses worn by you, it is paramount to keep some tips in mind. Ensure that you undergo a through examination of your eyes. Your doctor will advise whether you need the use of contact lenses. The fit of your lenses is also important and you should allow your doctor to take the time required to ensure that you have proper fitting lenses. Although you may be using fresh lenses directly from sealed containers, it is advisable to clean, rinse and disinfect your lenses prior to wearing them. Make sure that you follow the wearing schedule prescribed by your doctor. Remember to use the recommended solution while cleaning your lenses. Always wash your hands prior to handling your lenses. And never swim with your contact lenses on.
