Enlargement of prostate is also referred to as BHP that is benign prostate hyperplasia in medical terms. It is becoming a common problem among men over the age of 50 years. It could be caused due to several reasons such as obesity, testosterone deficiency, deficiency of minerals, hereditary factors, excess growth of cells, hormonal imbalance, etc. you have not mentioned anything about the kind of treatment that you are undergoing. I hope you have been to the doctor as medical attention is important in your case before it is too late.
You can practice Anulom Vilom or the alternate nostril breathing and Kapalbhati or the breath of fire. It will help a lot in relieving your problems. Besides, both these are absolutely safe to practice.
Anulom Vilom Or The Alternate Nostril Breathing - As the name suggests this is done by breathing through the alternate nostrils. This helps to clear the energy meridians in the body also called the Nadis. To do this you can sit in the Sukha asana or the easy pose, the Ardha Padma asana or the half lotus pose or the Padma asana or the Lotus pose. Once seated comfortably close your right nostril by pressing your right hand thumb against it and breathe in deeply with your left nostril. Next close your left nostril with the ring and middle fingers and breathe out through your right nostril fully and then breathe in again through the same one. Now close your right nostril and breathe out fully through your left nostril. This makes one round of Anulom Vilom or the alternate nostril breathing. Do this at least for 10 minutes daily.
Kapalbhati Or The Breath Of Fire – This is also known as the shining skull and concentrates on breathing out fully and with a bit of force. Your stomach muscles should contract while breathing out. This is extremely beneficial to control and treat many diseases, obesity as well as the enlarged prostate gland problem. It increases and improves the circulation of fresh blood and oxygen. This also brings a shine on your face as it clears the energy channels. You can do it for 5 minutes initially and then increase the time gradually.
Besides practicing yoga you should also pay attention to your diet because what you eat and drink directly affects your body. Eat fresh, healthy and simple meals. Avoid excessive oil, spice, tea, coffee, caffeinated beverages, alcohol, smoking, etc.
