Yoga Poses For Jock Itch Relief

Jock itch? Don't worry, guys.

Anyone can get that common fungal infection of the groin known. I know, I had it. Very, very itchy. The warning signs include itchy, red scaling or bumps in the groin area and genitals.

The important thing to realize is that the irritation is only worsened by vigorous scratching & scrubbing the area. So you don't have to make any changes while bathing, besides maintaining good hygiene. Also, this condition is also called athlete's foot since the fungus is often found on the feet. It surely won't hurt to dry off the area around your groin well before using it to dry your feet.

The treatment is very simple:

  • Try out some yogasanas
  • Use anti-fungal ointments available at most drugstores and effective in most cases.
  • Keep your groin dry.
  • Wear loose-fitting clothes.
  • Change your underwear daily.

Around 20% of the victims suffer recurring bouts of jock itch. So prevention is best! I'd bear these points in mind.

  • Change your sweaty shorts soon after exercising.
  • Make a switch to boxer shorts rather than briefs.
  • After showering, wipe your groin right away and do it thoroughly.
  • For absorbing the remaining moisture, use talcum powder on your groin

Yogasanas: I practised plenty of Viparita Karani and Sarvangasana under the fan in loose fitting shorts. Worked wonders for me!
