Yoga for Constipation

I say what’s all this crap about Constipation? It’s one heck of a problem. All people in life faces hits this phase some time or the other. You must treat constipation otherwise else it could lead to many more serious problems. The main problem with constipation is that the stools become hard and the person is unable to pass it with ease.

It is said that the average man, woman or child is continuously carrying 12-15 pounds of feces collected in their bowels. This by itself is toxic.

Look here guys, Yoga is a science. Yoga could help a person to overcome constipation. The power of Yoga is infinite. Yoga can heal many problems and ailments. There are lots of yoga poses (asana), which help the whole body. Chronic constipation could be the result of:

1. Not paying attention to the urge for bowel movement.

2. Insufficient fruits and vegetables in diet.

3. Less fluids, i.e. not drinking sufficient water.

4. Poor food combinations and consumption of mucus forming and hard to digest foods.

A healthier dietetic option would help deal with constipation. However to even make this attempt more successful, you will have to do some physical exercises. They’ll go a long way in alleviating the condition.

Yogasanas and Pranayamas, together with Cleansing kriyas can and will definitely come in handy in regards to alleviating constipation problems.

Bhujanghasana, Trikonasana, Ardha Matsyendrasana, Supta Vajrasana, Dhanurasana, Sarvangasana and Pavanamuktasana.

Try Breathing Exercises like Kapalabhatti, Anuloma-Viloma and lots of Bhastrika.

Above all, stick to a light vegetarian diet free of milk and mil products and do cleansing kriyas like Vaman Dhauti and Shanka Prakshalana.

These techniques are aimed at restoring the abdominal region of the body and by doing them you will find a natural remedy for constipation.

You should also try these home remedies for relieving constipation:

1.    A glass of milk at bedtime. This helps in normal bowel movement.

2.    Take at least 2 glasses of warm water in the morning and go for a small walk; this would help in relieving constipation.

3.    Taking 2-3 glasses of lemon juice with warm water 2-3 times a day helps lessen constipation.

4.    Taking 1-2 spoons of Aloe gel will relieve you of this condition.

5.    In Ayurveda, triphala churna helps in relieving constipation. It must be taken along with water or milk before going to bed.

In short, do your Yogasanas and Pranayamas everyday and Cleansing Kriyas every week, then relax! Nonetheless, for a healthy life, if combating constipation is a much needed process, then you need to undertake Yoga seriously – I mean, as in, on a war footing – along with a healthy Sattvic diet. It definitely will not hurt but will help immensely.
