Yoga Poses After Back Surgery

You should be asking this question to your doctor and surgeon. There are several types of back injuries as well as corrective surgeries. Your situation might involve several things, which the surgeon might be able to explain best. Also, when you had the surgery and the recuperation time should be taken into consideration before doing yoga. While yoga is therapeutic, doing yoga with an injured back or a back that's recovering from a surgery may not be advisable. Speak to a doctor and a yoga teacher and take their help in deciding. You will also have to understand your limitations, while doing yoga with a recuperating back.

Everybody's condition is unique; while some therapists recommend yoga, others do not. If your therapist has recommend yoga, it is likely that you will be advised to take it slowly and listen to your body as you begin yoga therapy. You have to give your body time to regain flexibility and strength. You may even be advised the use of props to do postures. Forward bends, back massage therapy and other postures that use the back extensively may take time to do with a healing back. You also have to take care of your back when you do yoga.
