Treatment Of Swollen Lymph Nodes

By Patricia | February 23, 2010

The lymph nodes of my seven years old brother get very large and swollen, causes pain white eating, what to do ?

For this problem, there can be several easy to employ remedial measures which will also get you effective results. However, you first need to show your brother to a good doctor and determine that he is not suffering from any infection which may be recurrent. Please do note that this is nothing new and happens all the time. Sometimes, there is an infection that stubbornly sticks on and refuses to go away. If not dealt with properly, and if not checked and treated in time, then this infection may have serious consequences. In some really severe cases, these types of infections can also result in the child contracting rheumatic fever. You need to ensure that nothing of the sort happens with your brother. On the other hand, swollen lymph nodes are the result of your body fighting off an infection of some sort. Called the first line of defense, these lymph nodes can be extremely useful in not allowing infections to enter the body. This could also indicate that your brother is prone to catching infections. In order to determine what the reason is, please consult a doctor and first try to follow the plan of medication charted out for you. If this does not show positive results, then you can start trying to take care of these at home.

Treatment

The first thing to do is to boost your brother’s immunity. Give him regular doses of additional vitamin C to ensure this. This is one of the best ways to raise immunity and will be generally useful in improving his ability to fight off infections. If it is possible, try and get him Indian gooseberry pills. These will also be extremely useful in helping to give his immunity a strong boost. Indian gooseberries are the richest source of vitamin C that nature has to offer. You can also give him Echinacea pills, which are a natural immunity booster. Meanwhile, for relief from the pain, you can give him comfortably hot fluids to drink. Soups, juices and mashed food should not aggravate the pain caused due to his tender throat getting swollen up like that. You can also apply warm compresses to the outer part of his throat for added relief. Avoid giving him cold or hard foodstuffs. Both of these will not be of any use and will instead add to his agony over time. But a permanent solution would be to improve his immune system.
