Symptoms like pain and pressure at the top or on one side of the head are mostly caused by migraine attacks. Typically, a person suffers from migraine immediately after a period of hard work and mental stress. In such conditions, the blood vessels that lead to the brain get constricted and cause lesser supply of blood to the head. Once the person relaxes, the muscles of the blood vessels expand and cause a sudden surge of blood into the head, as the heart pumps blood into the arteries with each beat. This causes intense pain in the head, often starting from behind the eyes. Since the muscles of the neck and shoulders also tend to become strained and overworked in such a condition, the migraine headache may be accompanied with a sensation of soreness in these areas. Sometimes, nausea and vomiting may also mark this condition. In more severe cases, the person may experience numbness in the limbs, face and tongue, pain in the eyes and slurry speech. In some cases, migraine headaches occur irregularly, sometimes even after a gap of several months, while some people suffer from this problem almost on a daily basis. Mostly, people who work under stressful conditions or suffer from depression tend to get migraine headaches. Regular intake of certain kinds of medicines, inadequate sleep, deficiency of vital nutrients in the diet, and excessive smoking and/or drinking are also factors that predispose a person to migraine attacks.

Home Remedies For Migraine

There are a few simple home remedies that you may follow to treat migraines naturally. One of the most popular and effective remedies for migraine is to extract the juice of ripe grapes and drink a small cup of this every day without diluting it with water. You may also grind the crusts of a few lemons with some water and apply this paste on the forehead to get relief from the headache and the pressure. For another remedy, crush a few fresh leaves of cabbage, place them within the fold of a thin piece of cloth and place this across your forehead. This is a good way of relieving the stressed out muscles of the head. Drinking a mixture of 100 ml each of beetroot and cucumber juices, mixed with 300 ml of carrot juice every morning is a useful remedy for migraine. Alternatively, you could mix 2 parts of spinach juice with 3 parts of carrot juice and drink this mixture to reduce the symptoms of migraine.
