What is Yoga Music
Yoga Music has gained precedence since the last hundred years or so. In the domain of art a certain movement has been developing with a bend towards spirituality. The word used to depict this movement is simply ‘Abstract'’.
W Kandinsky was one of the first individuals to define the ‘Abstract'’ as non-materialism in art. He went on to describe it as the discovery of the spiritual origins of all creatures and things. This is what happens, he said, when art is divested of the lure of entertainment and theatricality, this is what you realize when you have reached its pure core. Simply stated, what he means to say is that it draws us away from the external to the internal.
Another stalwart of new age Yoga Music has called it the unconditional sound of the mind, when concentration or meditation helps you attain to higher realms and discover absolute truths. It helps elevate you to a step where the mind is not conditioned by nor anchored to, least of all influenced by or comes under the sway of the external forces.
Yoga Music is also described as the kind which turns you inwards, encouraging introspective thinking. What follows is an unremitting unfurling of inner vision.
At this stage, it is said, the sadhaka (seeker) listening to the Yoga Music becomes a witness to his own singing, as it were. It feels as if another spirit is viewing through your eyes and another spirit is singing through your voice.
Steps In Yoga Music
The first step in learning Yoga Music, the gurus tell us, is to cultivate one’s indrawn voice, one that everyone has. This is the voice divested of all external glamour of notes and cadences, a voice that is not attached to the lure of sensuality of any sort, nor romanticism, for that matter. It is marked by love for the Self, a constant quest of the Unknown that is more or less the pursuit of the mystic.
The next step in Yoga Music is learning the style. Here the vocalisms don’t fall back on lyrics to develop themselves. Rather, as one’s own voice develops, the style becomes self-based. This, itself, is considered a very important progression in Yoga Music.
Then, it is said that Yoga Music weaves itself into life itself. The naked or purest notes mingle with silence to connect unexpressed or un-vocalized sounds. This is said to be the very picture of aural meditation. The steps of Yoga Music help to eradicate obstructions in the path of concentration and meditation.
