Nails are regarded as a mirror that reflects the internal state of your body. Although they look small and not so important, this is not the case. The nails are usually examined by doctors for sings of mineral deficiencies like zinc, which can cause white spots on the nails, and iron deficiencies that can cause a blue hue to the nail bed. There are multiple nail strengtheners that you can find in the market for your brittle nails but then they are of almost no use. They have so much of chemicals that they end up harming the nails all the more. The best thing is to have a healthy and nutritious diet along with some homemade remedies that you can adopt to take care of your brittle and weak nails. To make your nails strong, always eat protein-rich food items. Also, food items that are rich in sulphur enable the natural strengthening of your nails. These food items include eggs, beans, apples, cucumbers, onion, grapes, garlic and the like.

If you have a habit of biting your nails, it is needless to say that your nails will get weak. It is also advisable to keep your nails short. An ideal length would be half an inch past the tip of your fingers. This will help to prevent breakage of the nails. It also makes your nails look slender and beautiful. A common misuse that we all do with our nails is that we use them as tools – be it to peel of stickers, open mails and for other small jobs in the kitchen. But then it is undoubtedly a very damaging factor for your nails. A precaution that you can undertake is to wear rubber gloves each time you have to do some work with water. This will not only protect your nails but it will also prevent your nails from losing their natural moisture. If you like to wear nail polish on your nails, then always ensure that you add a clear base coat before you apply the actual color. This will prevent them from becoming yellow and brittle and then the color also lasts longer. Try these remedies and you will regain strong and beautiful nails very soon.

It might also be a good idea to improve the keratin content in your nails by using a cream with the active ingredient tretinoin. This substance has the ability to stimulate the growth of keratinocyte cells in the body. You should also increase the amount of vitamin B12 in your body by taking supplements.
