Fecal Impaction Causes And Cure

I am afraid that I have fecal impaction and not able to get insured till Dec., until then how to keep it from getting worse?

If you are getting your health insurance in December, then you have the last quarter of this year to actually reduce your problem, which might not be mission impossible but it will require a lot of effort from your side. The first part of the problem actually lies in your diet. You might have to make some drastic changes to your diet first, and if this is done, there is no reason to doubt that your problem might just go away in a month at the most. Since you are going to do this on your own, it is important to state some of the dangers of not going to a doctor for treating this condition. Fecal impaction is feces or stool that is stuck like a rock in your rectum. If this remains for too long, you could end up with tissue necrosis. Therefore, start treating this immediately.

Causes Of Fecal Impaction

Fecal impaction is result of chronic constipation, which is caused by too little water in fecal matter making it tough to defecate. We may think that our stool is just a solid mass of feces but the fact is that it is quite watery. Once food reaches the small intestines, it goes through a long process of breakdown and absorption. Even stomach bacteria get into the act to breakdown complex sugars in the intestinal tract. As all the absorbable matter is take into the bloodstream by the enterocytes cells of the gut, the leftover waste is then passed on to the shorter but larger colon. Here, feces go through its final processing. In this area, the water in the waste is reabsorbed into the blood stream to avoid excessive water loss. When this process breaks down, we get diarrhea. When this process is too efficient or there was never any water to begin with, we get constipated. To combat constipation, what you need is more water holding food in your diet that is also not easily digestible and this material is called dietary fiber. The best sources of dietary fiber are whole wheat, bran, legumes, and most tuberous vegetables. Needless to say that if you want to correct the problem, you might have to give up meat and junk food altogether.

This will send more water into the area of fecal impaction and gradually soften the stool. A week after taking up this diet, you should drink a whole liter of water with every meal from now on. Additionally, drink some aloe vera juice as this is a laxative.
