Whilst receding gum lines are usually an element of the aging process, several people are able to identify the condition much before others do. There are a variety of reasons for the presence of receding gum line. As much as receding gum lines could be due to genetic factors, there is also the possibility that improper brushing as well gum ailments such as periodontitis could be responsible. Misaligned teeth as well as plaque deposits at the gum line could also be the cause for receding gum lines. It is also advisable to ensure that you undergo cleaning of the teeth regularly to prevent the plaque deposits.

Symptoms

It is very important to treat receding gums not only to provide comfort from the symptoms but to also ensure the longevity of your teeth. In cases where the gums have receded, the bare areas of the gum have increased sensitivity, thus causing discomfort during the consumption of hot and cold food items and liquids. There is also a greater possibility of receding gums leading to tooth decay and other oral ailments such as sore jaw, periodontitis and loss of teeth.

Whilst many people are prone to developing receding gums due to genetic factors, proper oral hygiene can be a potent solution to premature cases of receding gums. such as inflamed tonsils or heart ailments linked to gum diseases.

Treatment

Any person afflicted with major or minor gum disease combined with receding gums must seek immediate medical opinion. Do not resort to home treatments of folk remedies for they do not serve any purpose in combating infection. Do bear in mind that prevention, an early diagnosis combined with aggressive treatment is the only way to ensure against loss of teeth and receding gums.
