Healing Yoga for Diabetes

All over the world – and particularly in the US – these days, together with heart disease, great experiments are being done in the management of diabetes.

The research is conducted in many medical centers the world over for several years under the strict supervision of senior medical experts. When the research is concluded, patients are sent home and the doctors follow up their prognosis.

As a result, these researches have succeeded in enlightening the whole world to the fact that that diabetes is no longer an incurable disease.

In fact, if properly treated, before the complications actually set in, the pancreas can be regenerated. As a matter of fact, to go a step further, with alternate therapies like Yoga, the disease can actually be healed.

The diabetes patient needs fear nothing provided he / she knows the right Yoga practices to do.

Likewise, over the past few decades or so, we have seen an increasing number of studies covering a wide range of diseases being conducted all over the world. Asthma, indigestion (the mother of all ailments), polio, muscular atrophy, multiple sclerosis (one of the widest spread illnesses in the West) and a number of other illnesses have been found to respond to Yoga therapy.

Of the 18 million, or so, Americans suffering from Diabetes, around 5.2 million go undiagnosed. Further around 90-95% have Type 2 Diabetes. Basically, there are two types of Diabetes. They are Type 1 and Type 2. Type 1 is insulin dependent. Type 2 Diabetes, is the second type’ it is non-insulin dependent and the most prevalent type of Diabetes.

Since Diabetes affects the pancreas, and endocrine gland, the generation and its subsequent supply into the system stops. This is owing to a sympathetic-parasympathetic imbalance in the body. Yoga recognizes this and seeks to restore the balance through a set of practices. These include Yoga poses, breathing exercises, cleansing techniques, meditation and lots of relaxation practices.
