Home Remedies For Sinus Headaches

The sinuses permit the drainage of mucus and circulation of air through the nasal passages. When they get blocked, due to an inflammation, the mucus is unable to drain out; this accumulated mucus is what causes the headache. Furthermore, the buildup of mucus creates an ideal environment for viruses and bacteria to thrive in, leading to a full blown sinus infection. Here are a few home remedies that can help in gaining relief from an uncomfortable sinus headache. Eucalyptus oil is one of the oldest and most popularly used remedies for treating this condition. Boil 2-3 glasses of water and add a few drops of eucalyptus to it. Once the water begins to emanate steam, place your head over the container. Now, use a towel to cover your head and the container so that the steam does not escape, but is directed towards you. This treatment if done twice a day will help in draining mucus thus providing relief.

Add 4-5 cloves of finely chopped garlic to a glass of milk. Let the two simmer for about 5 minutes, till the quantity of milk is reduced to half. Leave the decoction aside to cool, and then drink it on straining, at bedtime. Chewing on 2-3 garlic pods a day is also beneficial for this condition. Mix together a glass of warm water and 3 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar. This mixture should be consumed 2-3 times a day to get rid of a nasty sinus headache. Consume a diet that is rich in both vitamin A and C. This will help your body in fighting off any kind of infection.
