Home Remedies to lighten Dark Elbow and Feet

I have fair skin but my elbow and feets are dark, what ingredients to use for skin exfoliation and fairness

It’s quite common to have darker feet and elbows as compared to the other body parts because feet are often ignored when it comes to skin care and elbows have manifolds that accumulate dust and dead skin thus appearing darker. Also, both these parts have thicker skin than other parts. But, we usually tend to give it only as much attention as the other body parts thus leaving them a little less clean. So, one must spend more time cleansing them and apply moisturizer after taking a shower and before going to bed. You must also apply sunscreen lotion before stepping out to prevent tanning and further darkening. Consume lots of water and a well-balanced diet, and exercise regularly for healthier skin.

Remedies

The most effect way of getting rid of darkness would be exfoliating the skin and getting rid of the dead skin cells thereby giving an even tone to the skin. There are many scrubs available in the market that you can use for exfoliation. Preferably choose scrubs made of natural ingredients, especially apricot or walnut scrubs. You can also make some scrubs at home. Blend well and make a thick paste of two tablespoons of coarsely ground brown rice flour, half an avocado, three teaspoons of plain yogurt, and two teaspoons of lemon juice. Exfoliate your elbows and feet well with this regularly. Lemon juice is a bleaching agent that will lighten the skin tone and loosen the dead skin cells. Avocado has essential fatty acids that will make the skin tone even. Yogurt also has cleansing and toning properties. Another scrub can be made by mixing ¼ cup of unflavored yogurt and ¼ cup of crushed walnuts. Regularly scrub your skin with this mix. Walnut will remove dead skin cells and yogurt will tone your skin. Mixing two tablespoons each of lemon juice, honey, and sugar is also an effective scrub. Let the mixture stand for 10 minutes then whisk it well making sure the sugar is still coarse. Massage this into your skin gently in circular motion and let it stay for five minutes before washing it off. Rubbing table salt into the elbow and feet is also an effective way of exfoliating. Moisturize your skin after exfoliating and washing it. Mix well three tablespoons of water, two drops of olive oil and almond oil each, and apply it on the skin. If you do these regularly, your feet and elbows will be lighter and softer.
