A stye is a small boil that occurs on the eyelash or in the eyelid of people of any age and at any time. There is also a major possibility of it reoccurring. It is caused when the oil glands are blocked at the bottom of the eyelash or eyelid. Lack of proper nutrition, very little sleep or rubbing of the eyes too often can also cause a stye. It is said that styes will last for a maximum of 2 weeks without any treatment and if treatment is provided, it will go away within a week’s time. You might feel pain and discomfort while closing your eyes and see the area reddened and swell up also. You can apply a washcloth on the stye to give warm compresses after immersing the cloth in warm water and removing the extra water from it. Keep doing this at least 3 to 4 times daily for a week. After you have prepared a cup of tea using a tea bag for yourself, allow this tea bag to become warm and place it on the eye as it is said to help in speedy recovery from a stye. Aloe Vera is a great way to treat styes where in you can take a leaf of it, cut it lengthwise and apply the side containing the gel on the stye directly for a couple of minutes.

Aloe Vera is very effective and is therefore used for a number of home remedies as it has a very soothing effect. Try grating potato into fine pieces, place it over the stye and use a cloth to press the same so that a poultice is formed as this helps to reduce inflammation. Boil a tablespoon of coriander seeds in water and once the mixture cools down, put a washcloth in it and place it on your stye. Keep doing this several time in a day as coriander is a great remedy to lower stress and anxiety which in turn helps lower your chances of getting a stye. Application of castor oil is also very useful and you can you do this by taking a cotton swab, dipping it into the castor oil and applying it on the stye. Boil a couple of guava and acacia leaves in water and use it to compress the stye as it will help to provide relief from any inflammation.
