Spinal Rocking Yoga For Good Health

Often known as the Rocking exercise or the Spinal Rocking, this particular yoga posture is said to be refreshing, removing drowsiness and stiffness that one feels early in the morning. The Spinal Roll Posture massages the vertebrae and increases the flexibility of the spine. It also cures insomnia and can delay the ravages of old age.

Technique of Doing a Spinal Roll Pose

To do this yoga pose, you need to sit on the edge of your yoga mat. Make sure that you don’t hurt your back while doing so. Now as you draw up your knees, bend your head. Now place your hands beneath your knees and join them. Now, make sure that your spine is rounded or gently curved. Lightly rock like a rocking chair, moving backward and forward, swinging slightly. While you do this, keep your head bent. You need to maintain a rhythm and cannot go too fast or too slow. You must also maintain the posture. Do this posture a few times and then lie down in the Corpse pose and relax.

A Word Of Advice: You might just feel awkward or even clumsy as you attempt the Spinal Roll Pose the first time. You can also lose your balance while doing the posture. But just carry on as you are sure to get used to the movements and after a period of time will begin enjoying the posture. Deep breathing while performing the posture is a good idea – inhale oxygen when you rock backwards, and exhale toxic air as you come back forward.

And do remember to learn the posture from a qualified yoga teacher. Yoga postures are about precision and techniques; thus, doing postures in a wrong way or without guidance can be harmful.
