Yoga For Hormonal Balance

Yes practicing yoga daily and following the recommended diet does help to balance your hormones. Our bodies are constantly going through a change all the time. As you practice yoga regularly it makes you more and more aware of the way your body functions and moves. You learn to listen to your body and it helps you to understand what is good and bad for it. Hormones affect our emotions and our mental state, they act like messengers in our body and they tell our physiological system when and what to do. Our body has an amazing quality to rebalance and rejuvenate itself with a little help. This is where yoga comes in, the asanas or poses, breathing exercises and meditation help you to balance and stimulate the endocrine system.

Certain asanas or poses help you to balance the pineal and pituitary gland, the parathyroid and thyroid gland, the pancreas, the thymus and the ovaries. Yoga asanas or poses are slow and controlled movements during which certain glands in your body are gently pressurised and depressurised and this affects the endocrine glands as well as other glands in our body. This helps to stimulate and control the secretions from the glands and this is what helps to balance the hormones and restore the health and balance of your body. You would need to practice yoga correctly and daily to bring back the hormonal balance in your body. It will take some time so you need to have patience and give your body enough time to repair and restore itself.

You would need to pay attention to what you eat. Start your day with lots of water to flush out all the toxins from your body and to have smooth bowel movements. Have fresh fruits, whole grain cereals, milk, fresh fruit juices, etc for breakfast. For lunch have whole wheat or multigrain bread with green leafy vegetables and sprouts, pulses, brown unpolished rice, curd and or buttermilk. For mid evening snacks you can have nuts and fruits and keep your dinner light. Have freshly cooked vegetables with whole wheat bread or grilled vegetables. Do not eat excessive spicy and oily food. Stay away from processed refined junk food, as it will only more harm to your body then benefit it. What you eat could be the main reason for your hormonal imbalance so keep a close watch on it. Try and consume only fresh organic food products, as it will help to reduce the chemical intake of pesticides and preservatives.
