What Causes Unwanted Facial Hair

All of us have naturally fine, downy hair all over our face. The problem arises when this hair starts getting thick, dark, and coarse. This usually occurs in women somewhere in their late 20s or early 30s, mainly due to the hormonal changes that the body goes through. This problem can also arise due to certain factors that are hereditary or else due to the consumption of certain medications. You, therefore, need to first determine the exact reason behind your problem. This would require that you consult a dermatologist. The reasons could vary from medication to hormaonal changes in the body. If the reason is the intake of certain medicines, then maybe a change in the medication might help, or else if it is due to hormonal changes, then again, there are certain medicines that can help control this problem. Please remember, that the growth of thick, dark hair on your chin and neck is due to some imbalance within your body, so if you want to get rid of this problem permanently, you will have to attack the root cause of the problem.

Apart from that, there are a few things that you can do at home that will help to slow down the re-growth of this type of hair. The first thing that you need to do is stop tweezing your hair as tweezing would only increase the problem and make thee hair grow thicker and darker. The minute you notice that you have dark hair on your chin and neck, either go for threading or for waxing. Waxing will ensure that over a period of time, the occurrence of the re-growth becomes less. Threading will ensure that the thickness and darkness of the hair does not increase or intensify any further. Apart from this, make a thick paste of gram flour and yogurt and apply this to your face. When it is semi-dry, rub it in circular motions, going against the direction of the hair growth. You can also add honey and lemon juice to this mixture as that will help to naturally bleach your hair. Do this at least twice a week for at least over a year. Alternatively, make dough out of wheat flour, dip it in olive oil, and rub it for 10-15 minutes over the area where you have this excessive hair. Also, since the growth of this kind of hair is usually due to increased levels of testosterones, you can drink spearmint tea instead of your regular tea, as spearmint is known to control and lower the testosterone levels.
