Natural Hair Straightening Tips: Hair Straightening Techniques

Hair straightening tips: How to make hair naturally straight?

Let’s face the facts: straight hair is in. Nothing looks more attractive than poker straight hair framing your face. If you have curly or frizzy hair, you have two options:  pine away for straight sleek hair, or get your hair straightened.

There are many salons that offer expensive hair straightening treatments. However, the chemicals that are used to artificially straighten hair may also damage it in the long run. So is there a way to make hair naturally straight, without using expensive or harmful chemicals?

There are simple natural techniques that you can use to straighten your hair, although the effects will not be permanent. The benefit is that you can enjoy straight hair without paying through your nose and without damaging your hair. Let’s find out how.

Tip 1. You can use freshly extracted coconut milk to straighten your hair. Use one glass of coconut milk and add the juice of one lemon to it. Refrigerate this mixture until a creamy layer is formed on the top. Apply the cream onto your scalp. Then cover your head with a hot towel for some time. Wash off with a mild shampoo. Comb while the hair is still wet. Continue to do this for three weeks and you will find that your hair has straightened naturally.

Tip 2. Fill a spray bottle with 1/3 of a cup of milk. Dry your hair well and spray milk on your hair and leave it to set for 20 minutes. You may shampoo and condition as always. Comb while wet and you will find that your hair is shiny and straight. You can also apply milk on your scalp to make your hair soft and glossy. Wash the milk off with shampoo after leaving it on for one minute on the scalp. Rinse with warm water and wrap your head with a towel for five minutes. Un-wrap and let it dry or blow-dry it.

Tip 3. Hot oil treatment is an excellent way to straighten hair. The oil enriches damaged hair, adds moisture, and at the same straightens and gives a healthy glossy to your hair. Heat some oil and apply it on the scalp and leave on for 15 to 30 minutes. You can wrap your head with a plastic cover or warm towel. This will strengthen your hair and keep it silky. Do not apply oil while it is burning hot.

You can use one teaspoon of soy bean oil and two teaspoons of castor oil.  You can also combine half a cup of dried rosemary leaves and half a cup of olive oil and heat it over a low flame. Strain and apply on your scalp and hair. Leave on for 30 minutes and wash off with a shampoo and cover with a towel and dry. You can also use coconut oil. Oil treatment is most effective as it conditions your hair and helps it stay hydrated.

Tip 4. Remember to part your hair into a few sections to make blow drying more effective. You may use electrical appliances to straighten hair as they are less harmful than chemicals. However, even these can be damaging if used often. So go the natural way to look great with straight shiny hair.
