Grapefruit oil is generally extracted from Citrus racemosa or Citrus paradise, which belongs to the Rutaceae family. This oil is used to boost the lymphatic system and to combat cellulite. It is also used to stimulate the digestive system and to clear up acne and congested skin.




Properties: Grapefruit oil has a refreshing and sharp smell. Pale yellow in color, this oil is watery in consistence.

History: Grapefruit is a native of Asia, though it is widely cultivated in Israel, Brazil and the USA.




Extraction: Grapefruit essential oil is extracted from the peel of the fruit through cold compression.

Benefits of grapefruit oils: Grapefruit seed oil has several benefits.

Anti-oxidant: Grapefruit essential oil is rich in anti-oxidants and vitamin C. These properties help to boost your immune system and can combat free radicals. This in turn prevents the degeneration of tissues, nervous disorders, sluggishness, loss of hearing and vision, and other age-related health problems.

Diuretic: Grapefruit oil can flush out the toxins from the body and promote urination. It also removes extra uric acid, sodium, fats and water from the body, and keeps the heart healthy and the blood pressure normal. It is also used to treat urinary tract infections. Apart from these benefits, this particular essential oil can keep the kidneys clean of excess uric acid deposits and can protect them against infections and renal calculi.

Disinfectant: Grapefruit oil has anti-microbial and anti-viral properties. It can protect the body from infections.

Stimulant: This oil can stimulate the body and the mind, and can keep the endocrinal glands healthy by ensuring proper secretions of enzymes and hormones. Grapefruit oil also stimulates the digestive system by ensuring the secretion of bile and gastric juices.

Anti-depressant: Like several other essential oils, grapefruit oil has a relaxing and soothing effect on the body. It is great for those suffering from anxiety, stress or depression.

Anti-septic: Since the oil has anti-septic properties, it can be applied on infections, cuts, bruises, acne and acne. It is believed to even prevent tetanus.

Aperitif: It is believed that a regular intake of grapefruit oil can increases one’s appetite.

Lymphatic: Grapefruit oil flushes out toxins from our body and boosts the immune system. It is supposed to be good for people with arthritis, gout, renal calculi, cellulite and blood urea.

Other benefits: Grapefruit oil can be good for people with oily skin. It is also great for relieving stiffness in muscles.
