How To Get Rid Of Tapeworms And Roundworms In Kids?

By Patricia | August 5, 2009

Stomach worms are basically parasites that reside in the gastro intestinal tract of the body. These worms get into the body through our feet, when we walk barefoot in contaminated areas. They can also be ingested by eating partially uncooked food.

Tapeworms, hook worms and roundworms are some of the worms that usually cause a loss of appetite, anemia or diarrhea. They might also cause rectal itching by laying eggs in the anal orifice. The eggs and larvae are usually ingested along with partially cooked meat. These worms can lead to different health problems. Since they are parasites, they eat away the body’s nutrition and also secrete harmful toxins that can do a lot of damage.

Though it is important that you take your child to the doctor to determine which kind of worm your child has and what would be the best treatment to get rid of it, you can always help to speed up the process with a few natural remedies.

The foremost thing to do is to get your child to eat a lot of fibrous food. It is possible that the worms might get excreted out by the rigorous bowel movement. Also advise your child to drink a lot of water. This will help flush out unwelcome chemicals and toxins.

Feed your child some raw garlic with milk. Carrots, pomegranate, beet roots and pumpkin seeds are also helpful in eliminating worms. You can also simply cut and onion and leave it in a cup of water overnight. In the morning, take out the onion which will be fleshy and pulp now, squeeze it into the cup to remove all water and make your child drink the water in the cup. Repeat this for four days in a row. The worms will die and will be flushed out on naturally.

Coconuts are considered a great remedy for de-worming. Coconut can help to eliminate several kinds of worms that may be present in your child’s stomach. Grate a fresh coconut finely. Mix it directly into some milk or boil it with milk and give it to your child to drink. Give your child this decoction four times in a day.

Castor oil can also remedy worms in the stomach. However, children often dislike the consistency and taste of this oil and may be reluctant to have even a small dose. Make sure that you do not use more than a teaspoon of castor oil or else your child may suffer from mild diarrhea.
