Hysterectomy is a surgery that is performed to remove the uterus wherein one or both the ovaries can also be removed. Hysterectomy is of two types that is an abdominal hysterectomy and a full hysterectomy surgery in which case the uterus is removed through the vagina. Some of the reasons for doing this surgery include excessive uterine bleeding that can cause anemia, growth of fibroid which may not be cancerous but can lead to irregular as well as excessive bleeding or suspicion of cancer. Complications and infections do occur after a surgery but most of them can be dealt with and most of which occur within 2 to 3 weeks after surgery. However, that does not mean that complications cannot occur after that. In fact, you cannot rule out the possibility of a problem after a few months of surgery but this is usually a rare scenario. Vaginal discharge after a hysterectomy is normal and goes on for some time along with vaginal odor. It is necessary though that you consult your doctor on the same and not rely a lot on home remedies. There is always a possibility of it being indicative of a serious medical condition which can lead to a lot of complications and therefore, it is advised you get it checked.

Otherwise, take care of yourself and make sure you eat healthy. Make garlic a part of your regular diet as it is a wonderful herb that helps you to fight infection better and also lower the symptoms of any infection. You should have yogurt and honey on a daily basis as both contain antibacterial properties that help fight infection. Soy is another food that has been known to have a number of health benefits and is said to help in treatment of vaginal infections. Drink a lot of cranberry juice as it helps to clear out the bacteria from your body. Make sure that you have 100 percent natural cranberry juice without any additions as it will not have the desired result and cranberry supplements will also not do the job. To avoid further infections of the vagina and odor, it is very important that you stay clean and maintain personal hygiene. Wash yourself clean everyday changing your undergarment without fail and you should wear cotton panties as they are comfortable.
