Natural oils and moisture are needed for your skin and if your skin is deprived of the same it can prove to be harmful. Excessive exposure to water or harsh chemicals causes nails to lose its moisture which in turn results in dry fingernails eventually leading to their peeling off. Weather conditions are also responsible for this where low humidity causes the fingernails to go dry and more prone to peeling. Aging is another factor that causes peeling as the moisture and natural oil flow is considerably reduced.

Home Remedies

The peeling of your fingernails may be as a result of one of the above mentioned factors. There are not many home remedies for peeling fingernails but a few tips and certain precautions can definitely help. Since it is primarily caused due to the loss of moisture and natural oils in the nail bed as they dehydrate the nail plate, you should apply good nail oil that contains jojoba and vitamin E. It is recommended that jojoba oil be present as one of the botanical oils as it contains a very tiny molecule which penetrates into the surface of the nail plate allowing the vitamin E to be absorbed into it. Massage your nails as well as around the cuticle at least twice a day. Make sure that you don't put your hands too often in water or chemical solutions like sanitization solvents or household chemical agents. If it is the case then make sure you wear a pair of rubber gloves while doing the same. Make sure that you use the right nail products. Exposing your nails to these products frequently can also result in its peeling. A healthy diet with loads of veggies giving you your supply of vitamins is a must. Also, elongated nails unknowingly may be damaged as a result of daily activities. Hence, it is advised that you keep your nails short and trim.
