Treating Numb Muscles & Tingling Sensation In Hands

By Patricia | October 6, 2009

A sensation of numbness and tingling in certain muscles are a common occurrence and almost every individual has experienced them at least once in the course of their lifetime. There are a number of factors that could influence its onset, but almost all factors would either directly or indirectly influence the flow of blood within the body, or at least to these specific locations. Tingling or numbness can also be caused by sitting in a particular location or posture for an extended period of time or even as a result of nerve damage. Too much exposure to heat or cold could, again, influence the circulation of blood – thereby playing a prominent role in the onset of numbness and tingling. Dietary concerns can be aggressors of the condition, although a number of people are not aware of this. Deficiencies in vitamin B12 as well as blood level imbalances of potassium, calcium and sodium can influence numbness and tingling. You will have noticed that all sportsmen will conduct a number of warm up exercises before participating in a sport.

This is mainly to increase the blood flow to all parts of the body as well as slowly phase the muscles to a state of function, where they will be ready for the sudden movements that they will need to perform during the sport. If the warm up exercises are not carried out properly or ignored, there is a greater chance that the athlete will suffer from muscle cramps at some point of time during the event. If the numbness and tingling that you experience is accompanied by a pain in the neck that travels down the arm and to the fingers, you would be best advised to have a medical test conducted by a licensed physician to investigate if any underlying medical condition has been influencing the problem. This is also true if you notice the pain increasing with movement while other symptoms of the presence of a severe medical condition include vertigo, spasms and nausea.

A regular full body massage will do wonders to stimulate the blood flow throughout your body and should significantly reduce the amount of numbness and tingling that you experience. Make sure that you take a healthy amount of vitamin B12 and thiamin as part of your diet, while other natural ingredients that also help include cayenne cream and flaxseed oil. A proper nutrition that includes a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, nuts and fish should be followed.
