Natural Immune System Booster

To be really honest, the human immune system is one of those aspects of the body that require nothing more from you than a good supply of vitamins, proteins, and no smoking or drinking. The only thing that you really have to do is to eat healthy and ensure a good vitamin intake. Beyond this, the immune system combats disease with a mechanism that is quite advanced and is something that you cannot help with. A basic understanding of how the immune system works would be necessary here.

The immune system consists of the lymphatic system, the white blood cells, antigens, and killer T-cells. All these come together when there is an invading pathogen in the body and also when there is a malformed cell in the body that must be destroyed before it becomes a cancerous growth. Antigens are the core part of the immune system and acts as a wanted poster of offenders. All cells have protein receptors on their membranes. Antigens have receptors too and these will bind with certain cells like bacteria, viruses, and fungi. This database builds with each successive infection that we get during our life. With each illness, antigens update their surfaces with the new receptor and even make some mutation copies to accommodate for close relatives of the pathogen. This is the reason why some diseases strike us once and never again, like in case of measles. Once antigen binds to an organism, this becomes a signal for the white blood cells to move in and envelop the organism. These enveloped bacteria are then sent to the spleen and destroyed before being excreted from the system. T- cells attack our own body’s cells when they do not follow the rules of normal cells. This is important as aberrant cells could be cancerous and these mistakes need to be corrected before they go out of control. You cannot do anything to increases the receptors on antigens. This happens naturally with successive disease.

You need to maintain your general health on the whole. Ensure that you possess all the necessary vitamins by consuming lots of leafy green vegetables, dairy, fish and soy. Protein can also be acquired from the same menu so you needn’t worry about that. You must avoid smoking and drinking, as these suppress the immune system. Exercise adequately every day. You must also get lots of good quality sleep as your body repairs itself with melatonin during this time, which is a very potent antioxidant created by the body itself.
