Our skin reveals a great deal about our state of health. Our nutritional intake and dietary habits can be made out from the condition of our skin. Stress and tension also shows up on the skin in the form of skin breakouts and dull skin. The skin may also look lifeless and may appear scaly and lacking in moisture.

Leads To Acne And Pimples

There are many reasons for skin breakouts on body. Puberty is a period in which there are wide hormonal fluctuations. These hormonal changes stimulate the sebaceous or oil glands in the body into producing an increased amount of oil. Oily skin becomes an active ground for the growth of acne; it clogs the skin pores along with other debris such as dead skin cells and bacteria. The result is infection and inflammation which spreads on the skin in the form of pimples. Our eating habits also contribute to the nature of the skin. Eating an excessive amount of greasy and oily food promotes the formation of acne. Fast foods such as French fries, pizzas and chocolates are high in salt and oil content, and this harms the pH balance of the skin. During times of physical or mental stress, the oil glands start producing oil in increased amounts, thereby increasing the risk of acne. Improper hygiene can also be a factor, as dirt and make-up traces left on the skin can lead to breakouts.

Skin Breakouts Treatment

Vitamin supplements are very beneficial in treating skin breakouts, and it is advisable to consume supplements of vitamins A and E. Zinc is also known to be very effective in treating acne, and can be taken in capsule form. Ground orange peel made into a paste by mixing a bit of water can also be applied to the affected areas. This is rich in vitamin C and as such is helpful in curing acne. Lemon, due to its acidic nature, is very effective in arresting the growth of pimples. You can either apply lemon juice to your skin with a cotton ball or rub the areas with a slice of lemon. Garlic helps to treat the infection in pimples and rubbing raw garlic on the skin will work well to cleanse the infected areas. Consuming garlic as part of your daily diet also has a purifying effect on the system. A solution of mint and coriander juice can be applied to the pimples or acne patches daily before going to bed. You can also add a pinch of turmeric to the solution for better results. In addition to these home remedies, a healthy diet that includes lots of fresh fruits and vegetables will also help to flush out harmful toxins from the body and prevent further skin breakouts.
