Using Sesame Oil For Hair Massage On Dry Scalp

Sesame oil is one of those oils that can be used for cooking purposes as well as for hair care. You can use sesame oil bought from a grocery store or supermarket to treat your dry scalp. Sesame oil provides great nourishment to the scalp and hair and gets rid of stiffness and tightness of the scalp. Sesame oil also has natural healing and antibacterial properties that treat fungi and other viral problems of the skin and scalp. Another reason why sesame oil works very well for scalp trouble is that it penetrates quickly and thoroughly, enters into the blood stream, and heals various problems. Sesame oil treats dry scalp with its purifying properties by helping the pores to open and secrete natural oils, thus hydrating the scalp and hair and treating dryness.

For Dry Scalp

You can apply sesame oil to your scalp using your finger tips. Massage the oil in a circular motion and cover all the parts of the scalp. Leave the oil on overnight and wash it off the next morning. If you want the sesame oil to work as a conditioner, after applying it, give your hair a hot towel treatment. Soak the towel in hot water, squeeze out the excessive water and wrap the towel completely around your head. Keep it on for about 30 minutes and then shampoo as usual. The hot towel will make sure that the oil penetrates into the scalp well. Another effective tonic you can make for your hair is a mixture of ginger root, sesame oil and lemon juice. Extract one tablespoon juice of ginger root and mix it with one teaspoon of sesame oil and fresh lemon juice each. Apply this to the scalp and let it dry before you shampoo your hair. If you repeat this thrice a week, your hair will be free of dryness and itchiness.

Even though sesame oil nourishes the scalp and controls dryness, you need to employ some other measures yourself to get rid of scalp dryness. Drink lots of water everyday and consume as many fresh fruits and vegetables as possible. Eating nuts and seeds will also tackle deficiencies of essential fatty acids, if that is what’s causing the dryness of your scalp. Also, do not wash your hair with hot water, as it will strip away the natural oils from your scalp. Save your hair from environmental abuse like the harsh sun, extreme weathers, and pollution by wearing a scarf or hat when you step out.
