By Patricia | March 30, 2010

Chronic constipation, slow digestion, and a bloated sensation do go together. To resolve these problems the main need is to first establish the actual underlying cause. This is likely to occur due to a digestive problem; hence the need is to first solve this problem. In most of the cases, these symptoms and this condition are likely to affect a person due to poor eating habits and very unhealthy diet plans. Even a lazy and sedentary lifestyle which is devoid of exercise or very little exercise can cause these problems to occur again and again. At times these conditions can even be an accompaniment to pregnancy. Constipation is defined as the inability or the infrequent passing of stools. At times the stools also harden to such a degree that passing of these stools can cause severe pain and discomfort. Sometimes cases of chronic or severe constipation can lead to other serious conditions developing which can be equally painful and difficult to bear. Some of these include conditions like piles, fecal impactions, anal fissures and at times an increase in the risk of colorectal cancer occurring.

Treatment

Chronic constipation accompanied by bloating can be very distressing and can interfere with a person’s work and daily living. Chronic constipation can be addressed with various home remedies. Some of the common remedies include increasing the person’s fluid intake vastly. The person suffering from this condition should drink plenty of fluids and juices. This will help in keeping their systems well hydrated and will prevent the formation of hard stools. Inadequate consumption of fluids has been found to be directly related to severe constipation problems. Another remedy is to improve a person’s diet by eating plenty of fruits and vegetables. This helps in providing the roughage that is very essential in helping to keep the stools soft and painless. Try straining prunes or eating them whole. This is found to be a good remedy for those suffering from constipation. Separately try soaking some figs in water and keeping them over night. Next morning eat these figs and also drink the water they have been soaked in. This too helps in curing constipation problems. Try drinking apple cider on a regular basis. A high fiber diet is extremely vital for people with this condition. It is also imperative to get plenty of exercise on a daily basis. Activities like walking, jogging, swimming and so on are found to be very beneficial. Even dancing is recommended.
