Kundalini Yoga For Beginners

First and foremost, there is no such thing as a kundalini yoga program for beginners, known to the general public. This being said let us understand what Kundalini Yoga is. Kundalini Shakti or energy is a secret energy within us all. In Western philosophy Kundalini has been symbolized as the Caduceu,s a rod with 2 snakes coiled in spirals around it. It has 2 wings at the top with an image of Hermes (or Mercury) holding it; the sign of healing, health, medication, and transformation. This is the universal logo you see atop ambulances in most parts of the world.

What is Kundalini Yoga

The practice of Kundalini Yoga consists of awakening and chanelizing Kundalini Shakti (called serpent energy) through the Nadis (hidden channels), up the 7 spiritual chakras (energy plexuses) right up to the crown chakra, called the Sahasrara or thousand petaled chakra. Yogis are taught the art of meditating and contemplating on these 7 chakras or psychic centers within their bodies to generate this power. Kundalini Yoga is a system of steady, unremitting practice that helps you understand the higher levels of your own consciousness. This is above the mundane, everyday lower levels of human awareness, which if touched, helps you ascend the ladder of consciousness. Once your energy is raised through the central Nadi (hidden channel) you move towards divine consciousness. But in the beginning, you may well run into what are called 'gates' or 'doors'. These words are used to describe the 7 spiritual chakras (energy plexuses).

Kundalini Shakti

Kundalini Shakti (serpent energy) will help rid you of your deepest tensions, anxieties, stresses and, above all, of your misconceptions about your Real Nature. Subsequently, you learn to expand the flow of your creative energies, enhance the quality of your life by opening closed barriers (the 7 spiritual Chakras or energy plexuses) and raise your energy up your psychic channel. That is what is called the Sushumna Nadi the central nadi (hidden channel) that is said to run from the base of your spine to right up to your brain.Awakening your Kundalini Shakti (serpent energy) is done in a variety of ways; one of them is by chanting specific mantras (Vedic incantations) given by the Guru, over and over again, sometimes millions of times in one lifetime. This is part of the Bhakti school of Yoga. There are many other ways by which the Kundalini Shakti (serpent energy) can be awakened and channelized up the Sushumna Nadi the central hidden channel, all the way up to the crown of the head. This should only be learned in private from a Yoga adept whose Kundalini Shakti (serpent energy) has been awakened and channelized in himself, or else, the results could prove disastrous.
