Before taking up any beginners running program or even a beginner walking program one should always consult their doctor or their physician who will let them known if the program is suitable for them. This is true mostly in case of those people who suffer from a physical or a medical condition which may hamper their participation in any form of physical activity.

One should also get the appropriate beginner running shoes based on ones foot type and style of running as this is critical in preventing any injuries as well as in providing the runner with comfort and support while running. The key part of sticking to a beginner running program or even beginner jogging is to keep in mind the benefits of the program that one is planning on reaping in the long run. One may also get a friend or a relative to tag along as a running or jogging buddy so as to help one stick to the program and not get bored or uninterested after some time. Before running or walking one should always practice some walking or stretching exercises which will ensure that the muscles are sufficiently warmed up and ready for the program. This is also crucial in preventing any injuries that may occur on account of stiff muscles. In the first week of a beginner running program one should walk for six minutes then jog at a relatively easy pace for one minute. This should be repeated at least three times. In the weeks that follow of the beginner running program one should gradually increase one distance, speed and pace of running by testing ones endurance limits. In time one will be able to develop their own style of running and also a proper running gait. A beginner running should ideally aim at running for at least 30 minutes for four times in a week to improve their overall fitness and stamina. While taking up a beginner running program one should remember to concentrate on their breathing. One should remember that while running one should be able to carry on a conversation and the breathing should not be heavy and labored. In addition to the running or walking program on should also pay attention to their diet and intake of water which should be sufficient to keep the body hydrated and supple. If one is running in humid weather condition then one should drink some water even halfway through the beginner running program
