Natural Remedies For Vaginal Discharge Odor

The four – five days of every month when a woman is menstruating are perhaps the most uncomfortable days in her life. This goes for most women around the world. The body feels alien and you don’t feel quite yourself. The chemical reactions of your body undergo a change and the hormones also are in complete disarray. There is a complete havoc in your body as far as the bodily fluids are concerned.

The acidity levels of the body increase when you are menstruating and therefore the entire pH of the body is thrown off balance. However, there are also times when the alkalinity of the body also increases. Because of this complete chaos in the bodily fluids, it becomes extremely difficult to pin point the exact cause of the vaginal odor that is emitted during menstruation.

The hormones of our body change a lot during menstruation and the effects change with time or even reverse. Instead of wasting time trying to look for the exact cause of the odor, it is better to take care of the odor.

The discharge during menstruation usually has a very strong odor. The mucus of the vagina contains bacteria called lactobacilli. This helps in maintaining acidic levels of the vaginal area so that infections cannot occur.

You are what you eat and the odor of your body is also dependent on your diet. When you are menstruating, try to avoid food with strong odors. Garlic, meats, onions and eggs are some of the foods that cause odor in the vagina. Fresh fruits and vegetables help sweeten the body odor. You should also add some parsley to your food. This makes the odor go away. Increase your personal hygiene and wash yourself repeatedly. Take a bath at least twice a day.

Also use talcum powder in the areas where odor is present. Wear loose clothes made up of natural fibers. Synthetic fibers like nylon and polyester do not allow air to pass through and cause sweat. Sweat causes odor producing bacteria to grow in the intimate areas and causes odor.

Usually simple home remedies can cure the commonly occurring odor problems, but if the odor is accompanied by swelling, itchiness, irritated skin and pus, beware of a fungal or bacterial infection. You should consult your gynecologist immediately if you feel any discomfort.

Try to address the problem of odor as soon as possible, since ignoring it can actually put you in through a lot of physical and physiological discomfort. You could even get susceptible to various vaginal infections. Try not to use any tampons. Tampons cause micro organisms to grow inside the vagina and cause infections.
