What Causes Low Vaginal Elasticity

A loss of elasticity in the vagina may occur as a result of several factors. It is however, difficult to determine the extent or nature of loss of vaginal elasticity. You may feel that the vagina is not tight for a number of reasons – your partner may complain that your vaginal muscles are loose and don’t react to stimulation, you may feel like you have to try very hard to achieve orgasm, your vagina may not close up after expanding during intercourse, your vagina may be appear loose and without sensation after childbirth. It is important to remember however, that all of the above reasons may themselves be the result of other problems and not the result of a loose or inelastic vagina. It is therefore advisable to consult your gynecologist if you feel that the vagina no longer has elasticity. Generally vaginal muscles tend to lose their elasticity with age and this is a slow and gradual process. If you experience a sudden loss of elasticity or sensation in your vagina, it may even be the symptom of another underlying disorder. There are several alternatives to tightening a loose vagina. One of the most popular and effective methods is regular exercise. Kegel exercises and yoga are among the more popular exercises to tighten the vaginal muscles. Kegel exercises involve the tightening and contracting of the pelvic floor periodically to bring elasticity to the vaginal walls and muscles. Yoga stimulates blood circulation to the vagina and helps tighten the muscles and promotes sensation in the area.

Methods To Tighten Vaginal Muscles

Other methods of tightening the vagina include the use of vaginal cones. These cones are of varying weights and need to be inserted in the vagina for the purpose of tightening its muscles. This method of tightening the vagina also involves exercise and is a gradual process that requires constant effort. The treatment generally starts with a vaginal cone of minimal weight and then progresses to those that are heavier. The exercise involves holding the cone in place using just your vaginal muscles. Expanding and contracting your muscles to keep the cone in place may help improve their elasticity. This exercise needs to be carried out for about fifteen minutes in a day for the best results. Another option for women seeking to tighten their vagina is with the help of surgery. The surgery, also known as a vaginoplasty, involves a surgical method of tightening the vaginal canal and toning vaginal muscles.
