Causes

Skin rashes can occur for a variety of reasons. The fact that a rash is not a well defined medical term leaves me with no real clue about what kind of skin problem you are currently facing. Skin rashes can be the result of an allergic reaction to a substance that the affected area has recently been in contact with or even the symptom of a more severe underlying medical condition. In order to correctly identify its root cause, it is highly recommended that you visit a local licensed doctor to conduct a few medical tests. If the tests show that you are suffering from some other medical complication, you would need to treat that condition on a priority. While the underlying condition starts to recede, you will notice all of its symptoms, including the skin rash, start to withdraw as well. However, the skin rash could be a condition all on its own. Eczema is probably the most common skin rash condition and is characterized by scaly, itchy patches. Eczema is further classified into a number of types of which atopic dermatitis is the most common. This is largely a heredity problem and will often start to manifest in childhood by way of chapped cheeks and scaly patches on the arms, legs and torso. Adults will also experience atopic dermatitis around the eyelids and genitals. The skin affected by this condition turns extremely itchy and red and may appear swollen and cracked as well. More serious variants of the condition will also see the skin weep and crust. The liquid that oozes out of the crusts is not always infected but is mostly tissue fluid.

Home Cures

To treat the condition, you could take one teaspoon of sandalwood ground into a paste and mix with another teaspoon of camphor before you apply the mixture over the rashes. If you suffer from normal excessively dry skin, softening your skin is very important for the treatment of the condition. In order to do this, you should regularly massage some coconut oil into the affected areas. Hot oil treatments are also known to be very successful. Take about 7 ounces of mustard oil and boil it in an iron container with the addition of 2 handfuls of fresh margosa leaves. Continue to heat it until the leaves become black and then allow the oil to cool. Once it has cooled down to room temperature, sieve it and apply it over the affected areas four times a day.
