Yoga though is known greatly for weight loss it shows considerable results for weight increase also. Yoga provides proper exercise to all the bodily organs and helps the mind and body to rejuvenate. It provides new vigor and vitality in the body and builds up stamina.

Yoga when accompanied with a good diet shows considerable amount of result in short span of time. Yoga increases the feeling of hunger and appetite and hence if proper diet which provides proper nutrition is consumed along with rejuvenating exercises of yoga then sure results are guaranteed.

Yoga Poses and Breathing Exercises to Increase Weight

Simple yoga exercises like Shavasana (Dead corpse posture) of yoga accompanied with breathing exercise helps to provide great comfort to the mind and the body. The steps for dead corpse posture are as under:

  • Lie flat on the ground
  • Hold your hands near your trunk
  • Breathe slowly and deeply
  • Exhale comfortable
  • Stay in this posture for quite some time
  • Practice it twice a day

Other recommended postures of yoga for weight increase are Pranayam (breathing exercises), alternate nostril breathing, Jal neti (Cleansing nostril exercise), padmasana (lotus pose) and a few others.

Breathing exercises are recommended for the treatment of a wide variety of ailments and they increase the overall metabolism of the body which can help greatly in the normal functioning as well as weight gain. If the body is underweight there are other reasons of improper digestion so that the food which is undertaken by the body is not readily absorbed so as to obtain proper nutrition for the better functions of the body. Yoga helps the digestive system to function properly and frees the body from various diseases like constipation and stomach abnormalities.

The breathing exercises of yoga have the powers that can be used for spiritual enhancement of the individual. It can help increase the concentration in a wide variety of tasks and help in better replacement of the new cells for the old ones which are lost due to wear and tear of the body parts. Alternate nostril breathing helps to increase self awareness and also increase the concentration of the body. Lotus pose provides great relaxation to the body and one can sit comfortably with the legs folded and enjoy the great benefits of yoga. Revitalization of the energy is highly essential for the increase of weight of the human body. Yoga helps to attain that and hence it is a known practice for weight increase.

Though the weight cannot be increased instantly but yoga with proper dietary habits and a balanced diet promises a sound body and a sound mind. It increases the energy level and speeds up the stagnant processes of the body.
