Yoga Exercises To Improve Physical Balance

For several thousand years, Yoga has been flaunted for being able to help balance the body and still the mind.

Balancing poses – these include the tree pose, dancer’s pose, and one-leg balance pose – are great examples of how Yoga can help one achieve precisely that. When concentrating on these asanas, you are unable to think about anything else, as you start to lose balance no sooner your mind wanders.

Result, you’re brought back to the present.

There is a story in ancient Indian scriptures that goes as follows.

One day Narada Muni, the loved one of Lord Vishnu, the Preserver, is known to have asked him who his favorite devotee was, expecting to single out himself. Instead the Lord pointed out to a farmer, who barely took the Lord’s name twice a day, once when leaving for the fields, and once on returning in the evenings. As he was unable to understand the Lord set Narada to a task. He was to encircle the globe once, bearing a brimful of oil, on condition that not a drop spills. He returned successfully from the trip only to be asked by the Lord: ………and how many times did you take my name?” At which the dumbfounded Muni realized the lesson the Lord had been trying to teach him.

Life and spirituality are all about balance. As a matter of fact, balance poses call for so much focus that they can be quite challenging. However it’s also what makes them such a lot of fun. The most important thing is to maintain a sense of humor while doing the poses. If you lose your balance, just inhale and exhale deeply once, yes, take a deep breath, and go back up. With time, patience and a little practice, you will get better and better.
Some of the balancing poses that will help you regain a sense of physical and mental balance is:

Mountain Pose
One-leg Balance
Tree Pose
Dancer’s Pose
Warrior
Triangle and Half-moon poses
Boat Pose
