...muscles and bones, fighting diseases, reducing stress, improving focus and coordination and building strength and immunity, to name a few. Therefore, it is quite safe to say that running can improve your overall health and confidence. Moreover, unlike other forms of workout, there is no special equipment that is required for workout running, apart from a good pair of shoes, socks and some suitable running clothes. Wearing the right running shoes is more important than people believe. One of the fitness facts for running is that running with the wrong shoe has led to several injuries in people.

While physical fitness running is not a piece of cake, it is definitely not as difficult as many people believe it to be. It is best for you to start off at an easy or moderate pace (more like fitness walking with brief sessions of running in between) and then gradually increasing your speed, distance and time as your strength and stamina increases. You could start of with running for 20 to 30 minutes a day and then gradually increase the time by a few minutes every week, till you are running for about 45 minutes a day. Increasing speed or mileage too quickly could lead to a severe injury. Some people do not increase the distance they run; instead they try to cover the same distance in less time, as the weeks pass. Therefore, you do not need to push yourself and run more than you can. You can build your stamina and fitness levels by gradually increasing your speed too.

In order to practice fitness running in an effective and efficient manner it is important to perform stretching exercises before as well as after you run. Stretching not only reduces the risks of injuries, it makes your muscles grow stronger at a faster rate. Warm up and cool down are essential parts of any workout session and should never be skipped. However, before taking up fitness running, fitness walking or any other form of exercise of regular basis, it is important to get clearance from your physician.
