My face is itching from few days, what home remedies to use to stop itching?

There are various causes behind itchy skin, such as allergic reactions to foods or cosmetics, dryness of the skin, infections, insect bites, a general lack of cleanliness, and even stress. Hence, to cure itching, first try to determine the cause behind it and deal with it. The most common reason for itching is food allergy; so, if you are allergic to any food products, you must avoid consuming them. Also, do not use expired and sub-standard cosmetics; choose only reliable and branded products. Resist scratching the skin, especially with nails, as it can break the skin and can cause an infection. You can also make use of simple home remedies that will help you get rid of the discomfort effectively. You can begin with application of cold compress to the itchy areas. Soak a clean cloth in cold water or wrap some ice cubes in a clean cloth and apply on the affected parts. It will bring you relief soon. However, make sure that you do not use this for more than 10 minutes at a stretch as it can cause abrasion thereby worsening your condition.

Home Remedies

Aloe vera is an antiseptic product that also has a soothing effect on the skin. Therefore, apply aloe vera gel or slit an aloe leaf vertically and apply its pulp on the affected areas. You can also mix aloe vera with Vitamin E oil and apply it on the face. Similarly, applying cod liver oil on the face will also alleviate itching. Lemon juice is also a powerful agent that fights itching. Make a paste of oatmeal and water, smear it over your face, and wash it off after 20 minutes. Mint is another ingredient that brings relief from itching thanks to its powerful anti-inflammatory qualities. Boil dried mint leaves in water, let it cool, then dip a cloth in it and dab it on the affected area well. Rubbing coconut oil on the affected area will also bring relief as it is basically a cool ingredient.

Other than the remedies, you need to maintain personal hygiene and have a good skin care regime that includes using a mild soap that suits your skin type, a good body lotion, sun protection cream while out in the sun, and a good talcum powder among others. Also, stay away from dusty, polluted areas as much as you can. If the itching refuses to go away despite these measures, consult a skin specialist to solve the problem.
