Please Suggest Home Remedy For Head Congestion?

Congestion in the head could indicate either one or both of the following conditions: sinusitis and infected Eustachian tube. In most cases, one usually follows another as one part of the body ends up sending the infection to another part. You need to take care and ensure that the infection does not progress further and end up causing you a sore throat and lungs as well.

Sinus Infection Congestion Mucus

Infections of the sinus cavities are quite common. If not the infections themselves, then pathogenic invasions happen on a daily basis but not all of these translate into a full-blown inflammation because of the body’s defense mechanisms. An infection occurs when the pathogens, that are inhaled normally, are trapped in the sinus cavities of the face. The sinus cavities are hollow air and mucus filled spaces in the face that serve the primary purpose of humidifying and heating up air before it goes into the lungs. When a pathogen comes into contact with the mucus membrane, it finds a moist, damp and nutrient rich environment to thrive it and start reproduced and feeding on the mucus. The body cells sense the invasion and if the cells are not able to overcome the invaders immediately then more reinforcements from the blood are requisitioned. The cells also stimulate the production of histamine in the body. This causes the signs of inflammation, namely swelling, mucus production, and increased blood flow. These are all aids for the white blood cells to get access to the invading pathogens. While this battle between bacteria and the body’s defenses is underway, the infection could also spread to the Eustachian tubes and affect the pressure balancing tube. This is the reason why a sinus infection usually also impairs the ability to equalize pressure in the ears.

Remedies

Treating this condition is rather simple. The first step is to ensure that you get some rest at home for the next few days and hydrate yourself well. Next, start consuming a whole clove of garlic with every meal in a pre-meal soup. You should also add some ginger and pepper to the mixture. Garlic is a natural antibiotic and ginger, a natural anti-inflammatory. Pepper is used because it helps absorption of the other spices. In addition, use steam inhalations with some tea tree oil added to it. This becomes topical application in the inside of the nose. The condition should resolve itself pretty soon and the feeling of being congested will go away in a day.
