The rate at which the belt moves is the rate at which the person is walking or running. An exercise treadmill will have two motors - one to raise and lower the bed for inclines and the other to drive the belt. If you decide to buy an exercise treadmill for use at home, be sure to try it out first.

Exercise treadmills come fully equipped with the latest consoles and user friendly features. You can get feedback on speed, incline, pace, time and distance. This makes it easier to track progress. Some exercise treadmills also come with music or television. Water bottle holders and magazine racks are now standard equipment on most exercise treadmills. Treadmills are also commonly referred to as workout treadmills and weight loss treadmills. These names are used basically because of the variety of uses of a treadmill.

A good exercise routine on a treadmill would include jogging, running, and different walking exercises. Treadmill workouts help to improve cardiovascular fitness. These workouts serve as all round exercises as they strengthen muscle groups and burn calories at the same time. Treadmill workouts depend on the person's current level of fitness and also the kind of treadmill they are using to exercise. One can change the incline, speed and resistance of the workout depending on one's fitness level. Regardless of the fitness level, it is necessary to start the workout on a slow speed. Do not hold on the handrail either. Walk as you would normally. A poor posture will result in damaged muscles.

There are many benefits to walking on a treadmill and weight loss is one of them. Treadmill walking is simple and there is less chance of injury as well. Treadmill walking helps in weight loss as the faster you walk the more calories you burn and therefore the more weight you will lose.

Most exercise treadmill plans come with one or two programs that can be customized. You can either go at a sustained speed for a specific period of time or you can exercise at intervals. Your exercise plan should be interesting and modifiable too. Some essentials of a treadmill exercise routine include a warm up, stretch, cardio walk, speed intervals, incline intervals, squats, side stepping and lunge stepping, power mix and strength moves.
