...such as adequate support and a comfortable fit, casual walking shoes tend to include certain additional feature such as a notches back where the heel meets the shoes, lace up front, rubberized outsole, arch support and cushioning or pads in the inside of the shoe. Some higher quality causal walking shoes may also have certain additional features in them such as a roll bar towards the back of the shoe which may not be visible from the outside but tends to provide better stability to the foot when it strikes the ground while walking. Casual walking shoes for those with weak ankles or for those who are prone to twisting their ankles would ideally have a roll bar as it prevents one from spraining their ankles. One of the latest additions to casual walking shoes nowadays is that they tend to have gel pads which provide the feet with extra cushioning as one walks. While purchasing casual walking shoes for daily wear one should ensure that they purchase the shoes from a good athletic store. This would also give you an excellent fit which may protect the foot from surfaces such as concrete or the shoes may be wider and taller so as to protect the toe. The size and shape of the arch of one's foot should also be considered while purchasing casual walking shoes. It is always better to invest in a good pair of casual walking shoes rather than compromise by purchasing them from a mom and pop store as they help in reducing the number of foot problems and foot injuries that are typically associated with extensive walking. Casual walking shoes are typically designed in such a manner so as to provide good shock absorption in the heels and the balls of the feet. Walking shoes also tend to be a little stiffer than ones running shoes and also have a very flexible forefoot which helps in allowing the foot to bend naturally while walking. One should also check if they tend to be pronators or supinators or have neutral feet while walking as this will also make a difference while purchasing casual walking shoes.
