Benefits of Yoga with Pilates

There is quite a bit about of talk Yoga and Pilates around the world.



Both forms of physical fitness seem quite popular, particularly in the West. And we hope their popularity continues to remain strong, since Yoga and Pilates both offer some great benefits.



Yoga is an incredibly old science of physical and mental exercises. In fact, it is so old it even goes beyond and before the Hindu and Buddhist religions.



In its accurate form, Yoga is believed to be self-discipline. It is supposed to integrate the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of the practitioner’s being.

Compared to Yoga Pilates is a rather modern style. It was refined in the 1920's by one Joseph Pilates of Germany who developed his system of exercises to reinforce and tone the body without developing a lot bulk. The aim of Pilates is to develop long, lean muscles. Pilates, in the words of the founder, is designed to give you suppleness, natural grace and skill that will be unmistakably reflected in the way you walk, in the way you play, and in the way you work. If you go back in history you will notice that grace and flexibility are attributes that have always been associated with beauty and femininity.

Both Yoga and Pilates end up doing superb things to improve the practitioner’s strength, well being, and overall sense of confidence. And nothing can be more appealing than a strong, happy, confident individual.

While we are of the opinion that different types of exercise help increase strength and confidence, both Yoga and Pilates do one thing very well. Both Yoga and Pilates improve individual posture. Yoga is a great way to enhance suppleness and all round strength and vitality. Pilates also does a great job of reinforcing the neck, back and abdominal muscles. The secret to a healthy back and good posture is a balance of strength and suppleness. Nothing can be better for a healthy body and great posture.
