The word Ayurveda is derived from the term “Ayur, meaning Life and Veda, meaning Knowledge



So, literally, Ayurveda means Science of Life. Primarily it is the science of self-healing focuses on alleviating physical and mental indispositions. Not that this mean that Ayurveda is just a way of personal healing that doesn’t call for help from other therapies. As a matter of fact, Ayurveda asserts that doctors are necessary for dealing with the complexities of disease and the adaptations of health requirements



To that extent, as a self-healing technique Ayurveda has to do with re-establishing unity with our inner self as its ultimate goal. This is spiritual healing. Ideally, Ayurveda includes use of herbs, massage, diet and lifestyle.

 

Ayurveda’s concern is relieving both physical and mental ailments thereby promoting both physical and psychological welfare however, Ayurveda’s fundamental goal is Self-realization; which is why it is considered the highest form of self-healing. Ayurveda teaches us to achieve optimal health



This mind you, is not just for outer pleasure and merriment but to provide a complete foundation and adequate energy to follow the path of spirituality.



Ayurveda has a long history with many layers, a lot of diversity and an unremitting development. This makes it germane to all people of all times and ages. One of the most remarkable holistic medical systems in the whole world, Ayurveda covers all features and facets of health and well-being. These include the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual To this end, Ayurveda’s countless healing techniques ranging from diet, herbs, and exercise and lifestyle regimens. Through its exceptional perception of individual’s inner constitution, Ayurveda provides the insight for each culture and every individual to create a way of life that is in harmony both with nature and our higher Self.



Yoga, on the other hand, is one of the most amazing spiritual sciences that man has ever come out with. Like a priceless gem, Yoga contains several aspects whose light can illumine the whole of our lives with great meaning Going back over five thousand years, it is one of the few spiritual traditions that has maintained an unbroken development throughout history. Both, Yoga and Ayurveda are the fruit of the teachings of Himalayan sages. They go back to what is regarded as the start of this particular world age or cycle of civilization several thousands of years ago. Both, Yoga and Ayurveda are said to carry on the traditions of earlier, spiritually advanced teachings These civilizations have long since been forgotten. Yoga and Ayurveda are a distillation of wisdom from the countless of sages down the ages, the enduring legacy of man’s spiritual urge. These are adapted to the specific requirements of every age and different individuals. They are like two wide and luxurious banyan trees spreading out their higher potentials and lending succor and nourishment to people.



Both, Yoga and Ayurveda have brought health, wellbeing & happiness to millions of people over more than 5,000 years. By understanding and practicing Ayurveda, with simple changes in daily living practices and incorporating some proven life style changes, we can drastically & radically change our lives.
